SOAR assists resurrection of historic Boeing 727 for Seattle\u2019s Museum of Flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SOAR and Seattle Washington\u2019s Museum of Flight recently completed the restoration of the first 727 for ferry flight from Everett Washington to Seattle for permanent display at Boeing Field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Contracted by the Museum for its commercial evaluation and repair capabilities, SOAR\u2019s expert team provided a detailed examination of the aircraft for any damage and suitability for ferry flight then performed various reconstructive tasks to restore it for flight, which included reconfiguration and installation of engines and installation of the horizontal stabilizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jim Jijawi, SOAR Managing Director, is familiar with commercial aircraft restoration\u2014he was responsible for delivering the DC-8 to the Los Angeles Museum of Science and Industry\u2014so assisting the Museum to restore the historic 727 prototype was an appropriate decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the professional entity participating at the tail end of this 25-year long project, SOAR performed both evaluation and repairs within the allotted timeline. With the renovation now completed by SOAR, the Trijet\u2019s final ceremonial flight was scheduled for March 2, 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
